
Accelerated Resolution Therapy
I am Master-level certified in ART. Using sided-to-side eye movements, ART Therapists guide the client to replace negative images in the mind that cause the symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress with positive images of the client’s choosing. Once the negative images have been replaced by positive ones, the triggers will be gone. Nightmares and intrusive thoughts will be gone or reduced. This can be life-changing, very quickly, in as little as 1 to 5 sessions. Sessions generally last around 60 to 90 minutes.
ART is recognized as evidence-based by the Society of Clinical Psychology, Div.12 of the American Psychological Association. ART combines eye movements, that allow voluntary changes in the client’s mind, with well-established therapies like Gestalt, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Guided Imagery. Within the ART protocol, the eye movements, along with other ART enhancements, make these therapies work much faster and more effectively.
With these therapies, combined with ART’s eye movements and framework, many mental health problems other than Post Traumatic Stress can be resolved quickly. Among the things that ART can deal with are: Anxiety, Depression, Phobias, Panic Attacks, OCD, Addictions, Performance anxiety and enhancement, Family issues, Poor self-image, Sexual Abuse, Infidelity, Betrayal Trauma, Job-related stress, and more. There are few things that ART cannot help in some way.
One of the great things about ART is that the client does not have to discuss details of their issue if they so choose. Talking about trauma, serves to re-traumatize and embed memories of fear, the more it is thought about and talked about. ART is a way to resolve those issues without re-traumatization. The therapy can provoke intense feelings but at the same time, the therapy is helping to properly process those feelings and file them away in the brain in a non-threatening manner.
